- Aircraft Tours
Once
on the ground, the aircraft will be opened up for
tours for a donation. The charge for the tour helps
keep the aircraft flying and pays for day-to-day
maintenance as well as restoration. Schedules of
gate open and close times should be initially discussed
with the Wings of Freedom coordinator in Stow and
should be further reinforced with the crew on arrival
as there may be circumstances which would require
the gate to close early. Here are the basics for
the aircraft tours:
- A
donation of $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children
is asked to tour through both aircraft. If only
one aircraft is available the prices are $4.00
and $2.00 respectively.
(note that B-24 & B-25 joint appearances at
special events carry a full tour donation of $7.00
and $4.00).
- It
is important to note to the press that the aircraft
tours are not free.
- If
someone arrives at the gate with extenuating circumstances
or does not have the means to pay for the tour,
we will not turn them away, however this is very
subjective and is done on a case-by-case basis.
- Visitors
who have not paid a donation are asked to stay
behind the ropes and stanchions. Remember that
we cannot afford to continue touring these aircraft
nationwide for the public if we cannot pay for
our costs of operations through gate donations...
encourage visitors to tour and not just look from
outside the ropes.
- The
aircraft interiors are not handicapped accessible
and unfortunately cannot be made so. We apologize
to those who cannot tour the aircraft because
of this, and we will try to accommodate them as
best we can.
