One of the most fantastic gentlemen and great friend Mr. Irwin Stovroff passed away. Irwin was a part of the Foundation for countless years. A true advocate for our Veterans, preserving WWII history and touched everyone he met.

Irwin was born in Buffalo, NY and lived in Youngstown, OH and Greensboro, NC. He was a Jewish Prisoner of War in Germany during WWII. Wherever he went, he went with all his heart. Irwin’s philosophy in life was that people matter, not things and he put that frame of thought to work helping other veterans at the West Palm Beach Veteran’s Hospital and Co-Founding Vets Helping Heroes, which raises funds for veterans in need of Service Dogs.

Survived by Suzy, [Michael] Strella, and companion of many years, Doris Tamarkin.

Son of Max and Bertha Stovroff, [deceased], married to Sterra Penner Stovroff, [deceased], father of Jill Feldman [deceased], brother to Mort [deceased] and [Joan], Stovroff.

Graduated from University of Illinois

Worked for family retail furniture business in Youngstown, Ohio and then Thomasville Furniture International until retirement at age 75.

Volunteered as National Service Officer for Ex-POW’s at Palm Beach VA Hospital

9/2000 Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross presented by Senator John McCain

1/2002 President’s Call to Service Award from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, from George Bush

3/21/2008 by order of President Sarkozy of the French Republic he was presented the Legion of Honor medal.

10/2009 Congressional Record, Wounded Warriors K-9 Corps Act [Instrumental in legally allowing Service Dogs for veterans with physical and mental disabilities.] With Honorable Ron Klein, Senator Al Franken and Congressman Ed Whitfield.

President Obama signed into law the Defense Authorization Act of 2010, supporting Wounded Warrior K-9 Corps Act inspired by Irwin Stovroff

3/18/2013 Congressional Record honored his work that provided Veterans with Service Dogs.

In the most striking setting, the Collings Foundation is proud to announce American Elegance. The most elegant automobiles presented in grand pageantry and motion.

The Collings Foundation’s collection of rare automobiles, race cars, military equipment and classics are world-class. Few know the Foundation that operates the world’s most extensive national living history tour of WWII Aircraft is based here in Massachusetts.

American Elegance is an exquisite display of rare classic automobiles operating before your very eyes. The Great Gatsby era comes alive! American Cars from the height of craftsmanship will be presented in the most informative and colorful dialog and setting. Al Capone and his 1940 Cadillac will be here – if he can elude authorities! Massachusetts State Police’s finest are on the look out ~

WHAT: The Collings Foundation is opening its doors during the Wings and Wheels Event, June 17th and 18th. See the incredible collection of over 70 automobiles, carriages, race cars, military equipment and airplanes.

We will be offering rides in a legendary WWII aircraft! 20-minute Stearman flights are $200 (flown by an original Tuskegee Airman), 20-minute T-6 Texan flights are $390 (WWII fighter trainer). Call to reserve flights or with questions.

The Collings Foundation’s museum of over 120 classic automobiles, historic aircraft and rare artifacts will be on display. Docent lead tours will occur at the top of every hour.
Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center will have a display and original historic patrol cars participating in American Elegance. Unique tactical robot displays and exhibitions from Nashoba High School FIRST program American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics will be at location. WWII Veteran presentations and displays – A great time for all. Food will be available. American Elegance performance starts at 12:00 PM noon.

WHEN: The Wings and Wheels Open House takes place over Father’s Day weekend: June 17th and 18th, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Entrance fee is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 years and younger. Pay at entrance. Cash preferred. Call 978-562-9182 to reserve flights.
